// About

Fluence is a horticultural LED lighting company founded in Austin, Texas in 2012. Acquired by Signify (formerly Philips Lighting) in 2022, Fluence global headquarters remain in Austin, with EMEA operations in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

Fluence was the first to build custom-spectrum LED solutions and introduce white light that mimics sunlight to the horticulture industry. Their systems decrease energy consumption, increase biomass, and maximize the phenotypic expression of a cultivar's genetics compared to legacy high-pressure sodium fixtures. The company's research division publishes peer-reviewed work on light recipes and plant response, making Fluence an unusual lighting vendor: they are also a publishing science group.

By partnering with leading research institutions and conducting in-house research, Fluence continuously refines its understanding of plant-light interactions.

Science-driven LED lighting systems and light-recipe research for controlled-environment cannabis cultivation.

Fluence participates in the Martian Grow research program, providing the lighting environment for grow-outs conducted on behalf of Martian Grow's research objectives.

In an orbital-genetics experiment, the ground-grow environment is half the story: if the control plants are grown under variable or undocumented lighting, the post-flight comparison loses its power. Fluence's light-recipe research and peer-reviewed publication track record give Martian Grow the ability to specify lighting conditions with the same rigor as the orbital exposure parameters.
