
Genesis Space Flight Laboratories
Returnable orbiting laboratories for microgravity research.
Genesis Space Flight Laboratories is a Croatian aerospace startup that develops GEN reentry capsules: returnable orbiting laboratories that make microgravity research accessible at scale. Headquartered in Cakovec, Croatia, the company builds PocketQube-class satellites and pico space capsules designed to operate as autonomous free-flyers, conducting missions independently of space stations.
Genesis has completed two orbital missions. MayaSat-1, a biological incubator, launched aboard SpaceX Transporter-14 in June 2025, carrying hundreds of biological samples to sun-synchronous orbit. GEN-1P launched on May 31, 2026 from Esrange Space Center in Sweden, successfully completing nine experiments in space, achieving over six minutes of microgravity, and safely recovering all samples. GEN-2 is planned for Q4 2026.
Genesis offers a Microgravity Research Rideshare Program, with missions to and from sun-synchronous orbit where cosmic radiation intensity is up to 100 times greater than on the ISS.
Genesis Space Flight Laboratories is Martian Grow's launch partner, providing the spacecraft platform, launch integration, and payload recovery that make the orbital-genetics program physically possible. Martian Grow's cannabis seeds fly inside Genesis capsules, are exposed to cosmic radiation and microgravity in near-Earth orbit, and are returned to Earth for post-flight genetic analysis.
The first Martian Grow payload flew on MayaSat-1 (June 2025). The second payload launched on GEN-1P (May 31, 2026) from Esrange Space Center, Sweden. This mission was fully successful: all payloads performed nominally, over six minutes of microgravity achieved, and samples safely recovered for analysis.
